Dear Colleagues,

A final reminder inviting you to submit your abstracts to the AGU 2021
session titled:
*T009. Fluids in subduction zones: transport, behavior and consequences  *

AGU will take place in New Orleans on December 13-17, 2021. You can find
out more about the conference at https://www.agu.org/Fall-Meeting.

Session Description: From the seafloor to the deep mantle, fluids influence
most subduction zone processes including seismicity, rheology and
geochemical cycling. However, our understanding of the chemical and
physical consequences of fluid transport and release along the entire plate
interface is limited. Integrating observations across disciplines and
scales is imperative for advancing knowledge of subduction zone processes.
This session aims to gather geoscientists who explore the behavior and
physico-chemical effects of fluids in subduction zones and link a) micro-
to macro-scale processes and b) the exhumed rock record to geophysical
observations and geodynamic modeling. We especially welcome studies that
highlight feedbacks between metamorphism, metasomatism and deformation. We
invite abstracts from a broad range of disciplines, including petrology and
geochemistry, geochronology, structural geology, experimental rock
mechanics, geodynamics, and seismology. Interdisciplinary contributions are
especially encouraged.

Invited speakers:
Melodie French (Rice University)
Adam Holt (RSMAS, University of Miami)

Abstracts are due (tomorrow!!!) Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 23:59 EDT. The
session details and abstract submission can be found here:
https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm21/prelim.cgi/Session/120537.

We hope to see you in New Orleans!

Your convener team:
Kayleigh Harvey (Boston College)
William Hoover (University of Washington)
Besim Dragovic (University of South Carolina)
Sarah Penniston-Dorland (University of Maryland)
