Dear MSA-Talk subscribers,

The Center for Planetary Origins to Habitability (CPO2H) (
https://www.origins2habitability.rice.edu/) of Rice Space Institute at Rice
University is organizing an international Inner Solar System Workshop:
From Formation to Coupled Interior–Surface Evolution
. The workshop will
take place at Rice University on May 12–14, 2026.

The workshop will bring together researchers working on planetary formation
and dynamical evolution, using cosmochemistry tools and astromaterials, and
the coupled evolution of planetary interiors, surfaces, and atmospheres,
with a particular focus on rocky bodies in the inner Solar System.

The planned thematic areas for the workshop are as follows:

Accretion of Terrestrial Planets, Solar System Formation, and Evolution
Physical and dynamical processes governing the growth and evolution of
planets in the Solar System.

Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry of Astromaterials and Volatile Delivery
Constraints from meteorites, isotopes, and laboratory analyses on planetary
compositions and volatile acquisition.

Planetary Differentiation and Interior–Surface Exchanges Through Time
Properties of planetary interiors and coupled chemical and physical
evolution linking planetary interiors, surfaces, and atmospheres through
time from a variety of approaches.

The workshop will feature invited speakers, contributed talks, and poster
sessions
across all three themes.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the expression of
interest form available at the link below. Also, bring the workshop to the
attention of your mentees or collaborators, whom we may have missed
reaching out to.

To ensure a lively discussion among all participants, we plan to limit this
workshop to 70-80 participants. We kindly ask that you complete the
‘expression of interest’ form at your earliest convenience, ideally by
Tuesday,
February 15, 2026.

Submitting an expression of interest will help us plan and schedule the
workshop. We expect to have the workshop attendee list finalized by early
March. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate all requests from
potential participants. We would also like the participants to attend all
three days of the workshop.

There is no registration fee to participate. We will provide all meals
during the meeting, including one workshop dinner. Limited travel funds are
also available to partly offset the cost of travel and lodging for the
participants.

More information about the workshop is available on the workshop webpage:

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Andre Izidoro
