The Department of Geology and Geophysics at Louisiana State University ( https://www.lsu.edu/science/geology/ ) is excited to invite applicants for the Charles T. McCord Endowed Chair in Geology.  We seek an internationally distinguished geoscientist working in the field of critical minerals, the energy transition, or related energy systems. Research may address fundamental issues in mineral resources, such as their formation, distribution, and characterization; subsurface energy systems; hydrothermal processes related to formation and distribution; or fluid–mineral interactions in Earth or planetary settings. Field and industrial experience are welcome. The Chair is fully endowed with dedicated annual research funding.
Candidates must have: (1) a Ph.D. Or equivalent degree in geoscience or a closely related field, (2) a distinguished research record in the broad area of critical minerals, mineral resources or related field, (3) a sustained record of external funding, and (4) demonstrated excellence in, or potential to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and mentor B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. Students. Appointment is normally at the rank of Professor; exceptional senior Associate Professors will be considered.
