Hi everyone,
The MSA Centennial Committee welcomes its government-employed brothers and sisters back! You are just in time to learn about the new
MSA Centennial Ambassador Project!
It is important to let the wider community know the importance of our contributions to mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry. We are hoping that MSA members will celebrate our society's 100th birthday by giving talks outside of the usual academic venues and let everyone know about it. Here's the program:
-
Volunteer to give a talk to a non-academic audience about your favorite subject in mineralogy, geochemistry, and/or petrology. There are lots of possible venues: K-12 classrooms, mineral clubs, retirement centers, and local museum or library lecture series. Don't wait to be invited -- volunteer!
-
As part of your slide show, include one of the official MSA Centennial slides that can be downloaded from the bottom of the MSA Centennial Ambassadors web page:
http://www.minsocam.org/MSA/Centennial/MSA_Centennial_Ambassadors.html
and tell your audience about the international role that MSA has played in promoting min/pet/geochem research and education.
-
After you have given your talk, visit the the Ambassadors web page again and register your name, talk title, date, and venue. Alex Speer will create an ever-increasing list of Ambassadors viewable on the Centennial web site.
-
MSA Centennial Ambassadors who attend the GSA annual meeting in Phoenix (Sept. 22-25) should announce their presence at the MSA Booth. Alex Speer will offer you a hearty handshake and an MSA Centennial Ambassador sticker that you can affix to your badge:

- Who can turn this opportunity down? I am hoping that at least 50 MSA members will respond to the call between now and Dec. 31.
And remember:
--Register for the MSA Centennial Symposium on June 20-21: http://www.minsocam.org/MSA/Centennial/MSA_Centennial_Symposium.html
--GSA has extended the deadline for technical session proposals to Feb. 20:http://www.geosociety.org/GSA/Events/Annual_Meeting/GSA/Events/gsa2019.aspx
Include "MSA at 100:...." in your title.
Thanks for your attention,
