Dear colleagues from PEG2015,
We wanted to write to you, as soon as we had established the dates, with a
preliminary announcement about a field + lecture conference on pegmatites that a
group of us in Denver/Golden, Colorado, have begun to plan for July 15-19, 2016.
Our working title is the "2nd Eugene E. Foord Symposium on Pegmatites, Golden,
Colorado". It will be held on the Colorado School of Mines campus, Golden,
Colorado, and is being co-sponsored by the Friends of the Colorado School of Mines
Geology Museum and the Friends of Mineralogy, Colorado Chapter (plus some other
likely cosponsors, including the Denver Region Exploration Geologists Society,
DREGS). It is planned to consist of two days of oral and poster presentations, plus a
welcoming social evening, and two days of field trips to pegmatite localities in
Colorado (and perhaps, adjacent Wyoming).
We hope those of you who are interested will consider arranging your schedule for
July 2016 so that you may attend this conference, and consider presenting something
about your research on pegmatites. The conference will focus on Colorado
pegmatites, but papers will definitely not be limited to this geographic area, and will
be welcome on any aspects of pegmatite mineralization, genesis, and economic
geology. We will try to make this an outstanding opportunity to visit some of
Colorado's classic pegmatite localities!
We will be sharing more information about the conference as soon as it is available.
For the moment, you may direct any inquiries back to myself or to our group's ad hoc
chair and coordinator, Mark Jacobson, markivanjacobson@gmail.com .
Sincerely,
Pete Modreski

Are there further details on the July Conference?
There may be a small group from Bozeman MT interested in attending, as we prospect and collect often in the Boulder Batholith here in Montana.
