Dear colleagues,

please find here the announcement of a doctoral school that could be of interest for students and postdocs.

The 13th edition of the Doctoral School on Solid Earth Sciences will be held at the Les Houches School of Physics, in the French Alps, from October 12th to October 23rd, 2026.

Join us at the prestigious Les Houches School of Physics for an exploration of deep Earth and planetary sciences. This school is designed for PhD students and early-career researchers in geophysics, geochemistry, mineralogy, and planetology. Led by internationally renowned experts, the program covers cutting-edge topics such as deep Earth imaging, mantle and core dynamics, and comparative planetology. Set in the inspiring alpine environment of Les Houches, France, the school combines lectures, workshops, and a field trip to foster interdisciplinary discussions and hands-on learning.

The preliminary program is now available, featuring thematic sessions on seismic imaging, mineral physics, geochemistry, and more, alongside a field excursion to the Mer de Glace in the Chamonix Valley. Philippe Cardin will give the opening talk. Meals and housing costs are estimated at around 500 euros for the entire two weeks, making this an exceptionally affordable opportunity.

Whether you’re studying the Earth’s interior or the dynamics of other planetary bodies, this school offers a unique opportunity to connect with peers and leaders in the field. Stay tuned for the detailed schedule and registration information on our website:
