Hello everyone,
*Final notification about our upcoming workshop. *
This is the very final announcement introducing our last additions to our
workshop`s lecturers team: “Recent Developments and Applications in Earth
and Planetary Sciences of Electron Probe Micro-analysis”
Dates: 23–26 March 2026
This workshop focuses on the electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA),
highlighting modern developments and geological applications. New this
year: sessions on Bruker AMICS automated mineralogy, oxidation state
measurements in glasses and minerals, novel EPMA applications in
meteoritics, advanced software tools for EPMA users, and the
usage/importance of modern EDS systems.

Meet our lecturers (Vol.3):
-
Kayleigh Harvey (JEOL USA) – Kayleigh is an experienced microscopist
with a background in metamorphic petrology and
geochemistry. Her prior research focused on addressing long-standing
questions in subduction zone dynamics, with a focus on the temporal
evolution of the subduction zone interface. In her current role, she
leverages her background in microanalysis for materials characterization by
electron microscopy (SEM, EPMA), supporting researchers and engineers
across North and South America as they advance and expand their analytical
capabilities through technical training and guidance.
-
George Stonadge (Oxford Instruments, Imaging & Analysis) – Dr.
George Stonadge spent eight years at the University of Leicester,
completing both his MGeol and PhD. His research focused on understanding
the geological processes that control the formation of mineral resources
and on developing practical tools to identify them in the field and
laboratory. This work made extensive use of automated mineralogy,
energy‑dispersive X‑ray spectroscopy, and wavelength‑dispersive
spectroscopy, with an emphasis on quantifying mineral compositions.
Following industrial placements at Zeiss Microscopy and Oxford Instruments,
where he developed a strong enthusiasm for microanalysis, George joined the
team as a Product Scientist in January 2024 taking over management of the
Geology sector.
This workshop offers valuable knowledge for undergraduate and postgraduate
students, PhDs, postdocs, senior scientists, and lab managers, covering
both basics and advanced aspects of EPMA.
