Dear colleagues and community members,

We are excited to invite you to participate in an upcoming session at the JpGU–AGU Joint Meeting 2026, taking place Sunday, 24 May – Friday, 29 May 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan (hybrid format).

Our session, S-CG55: Oceanic plate as inputs to subduction zone and the subduction initiation, focuses on the role of oceanic plates in controlling subduction processes, material cycling, and geodynamic behavior from mid-ocean ridges through plate bending and trench subduction.

We welcome contributions from all aspects of Earth science, including geophysics, geochemistry, geology, petrology, and numerical or observational studies.

For full details, see the session page: https://www.jpgu.org/meeting_e2026/sessionlist_en/detail/S-CG55.htmlhttps://www.jpgu.org/meeting_e2026/sessionlist_en/detail/S-CG55.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com.

Important reminder: the Early-Bird Abstract Submission Deadline is approaching in **1 week — by **23:59 (JST) on **Thursday, 05 February 2026. Don’t miss this opportunity to submit your abstract!
