Kaolin: Origin, Properties, and Industrial Applications

Kaolin is an important clay mineral that plays vital roles in many geochemical processes and environments, including soils. It is a widely used industrial mineral and is an integral part of everyday life due to its ubiquitous use in many commercial products. These uses include, but are not limited to, printing and packaging paper, paperboard, paint, plastics, ceramics, filter, fiberglass, rubber, ink, adhesives, high strength cement and geopolymers, catalysts and pharmaceuticals. This workshop will be presented in a tutorial format and designed for students, young scientists, and any professionals who wish to learn about kaolin. The following topics will be covered:
