Dear colleagues,

If you or your students and postdocs are looking for a postdoctoral position, please consider the following offer:

Within the ERC DAWN project, we are opening a 2-year postdoctoral position at IPGP, Paris, to explore how H–C–O volatiles degas from magma oceans during the earliest stages of planetary evolution. The project combines ab initio molecular dynamics, machine-learning potentials, and statistical physics to tackle a fundamental problem at the interface between geoscience and planetary science.

The successful candidate will join our active ab initio group, a team of more than a dozen young researchers working across planetary mineralogy — from the supercritical protolunar disk to the interiors of exoplanets. With strong ERC and various national support, we offer a stimulating environment, high-level collaborations, and access to cutting-edge HPC resources.

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in physics, chemistry, or a related field, strong experience in ab initio MD and/or ML interatomic potentials, and solid programming skills. The position starts on 3 November 2025, with applications due by 14 October 2025. More details and the application portal can be found here:

Looking forward for your application,

Best wishes,

Razvan
