Dear Colleagues,

Our structural geologist recently retired, and we are hiring their replacement. While we need someone to teach structure, their research expertise can be complementary (i.e. tectonics, geophysics, etc.). Below is the short version of the ad with a link the long version and how to apply. Please forward this message anyone that may be interested in the position.

Applications are invited for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor of Geosciences position at Towson University in the Department of Physics, Astronomy, and Geosciences starting fall 2023. A Ph.D. in a relevant area is required, and postdoctoral experience is preferred. This position supports the Geology undergraduate program with opportunities to work with the interdisciplinary BS and MS programs in Environmental Science and Studies. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach structural geology and may include individuals with a research focus in areas such as geophysics, structure, or tectonics. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate introductory and upper–level geology courses with opportunities to teach graduate–level environmental science courses. Research responsibilities include establishing a productive research program that involves undergraduate students and pursuing external funding. Applications must be submitted electronically as a single PDF and should include a cover letter, CV, separate 2-page statements for teaching (including a diversity statement) and research. Three letters of reference should be submitted to GEOLsearch@towson.edumailto:GEOLsearch@towson.edu. Inquires can be sent to GEOLsearch@towson.edumailto:GEOLsearch@towson.edu. Review of applications will begin on December 19, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled.
