Dear Colleagues,

We’d like to draw your attention to upcoming graduate research opportunities in igneous petrology at Purdue University beginning Fall 2025.

Professors Kelsey Prisselhttps://www.eaps.purdue.edu/people/profile/kprissel.html and Tabb Prisselhttps://www.eaps.purdue.edu/people/profile/tprissel.html are building an experimental petrology program at Purdue that will include gas-mixing furnaces, piston cylinders, a multi-anvil press, and an electron probe microanalyzer. There will be immediate opportunities for experimentation, sample analysis, computer modeling, and field work. Research topics include, but are not limited to, the conditions and timing of terrestrial volcanism; the formation and evolution of planetary bodies (including Earth, Moon, Mars, Mercury, and Venus); and exploration science in preparation for upcoming missions to the Moon and Mars.

Interested students should reach out to kprissel@purdue.edumailto:kprissel@purdue.edu and/or tprissel@purdue.edumailto:tprissel@purdue.edu to discuss potential opportunities and research interests. Graduate applications are due January 6th, with requirements outlined at https://www.eaps.purdue.edu/for_students/graduate/grad_admissions.html

Sincerely,
Kelsey Prissel
