We would like to remind you that the abstract deadline for the session “Early Career Investigators in Mineralogy and Crystallography” at the upcoming GSA Connects 2026 meeting in Denver, CO, is approaching. This session provides a platform for early-career researchers, postdoctoral scientists, and students to share fresh perspectives, new ideas, and exciting developments across mineralogy and crystallography. We welcome contributions spanning a broad range of topics, including experimental, analytical, computational, and theoretical approaches.
Although our session is focused on mineralogy and crystallography, we want to emphasize that these fields are fundamental components of nearly every area of the geosciences. Mineral structures, compositions, and properties influence processes across geology, from petrology and geochemistry to planetary science, economic geology, and materials-related studies. Therefore, we encourage submissions from researchers who may not consider their work to be “purely” mineralogy or crystallography but whose research relies on understanding minerals, crystals, or their properties.
We also welcome contributions related to professional development, mentoring, and equal career advancement in the mineral sciences.
