Mineralogists,

A friend of mine who is a chemist at our institution has an atomic force microscope in his research lab.  These can image portions of crystal structures a few atoms across!  He has invited my mineralogy students to stop by for a demo with some easily-cleaved minerals from our collection.  Do any of you have experience with AFM?  I'm wondering which minerals might be best suited for this technique.  I would like to reinforce what they have learned about mineral crystal structures earlier in the semester.

Thank you!

Kent
