Dear colleagues,
AGU abstracts are due in one week. We would like to invite you to submit abstracts to the session: GC055. Critical Minerals: Identifying Knowledge Gaps and Potential Bridges of Basic Science to the Value Chain of Exploration, Extraction, Processing, Recycling.https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/prelim.cgi/Session/225797
The abstract deadline is July 31st.
Session Description:
Critical minerals are crucial to the deployment of technologies ranging from renewable energy to electronics and beyond. Understanding the fundamental geochemical processes in the transport, distribution, and formation of ore deposits, extraction, chemical processing, and recycling of critical metals is essential for both discovering new resources and innovations of environmentally friendly extraction technologies. Applied research that bridges basic research to industrial applications and data and resources sharing for the community are also keys to the success. Additionally, educating a new generation of ethically informed Earth scientists who possess the requisite cross-discipline and multiple discipline knowledge and skills and are able to work on the whole value chain for critical minerals requires immediate action.
This session welcomes submissions covering experimental, theoretical/modeling, and field studies of critical minerals, particularly use-inspired research. Ideas to identify knowledge gaps, building bridges between research and applications, curriculum development, and application of FAIR principle are also welcome.
Cheers!
