Announcing "Introduction to Mineral Physics"

A nationwide COMPRES Graduate Seminar

Hosted by Dr. Pamela Burnley and Dr. Sylvia-Monique Thomas

High Pressure Science and Engineering Center and Department of Geoscience

University of Nevada, Las Vegas

"Introduction to Mineral Physics" (GEOL704X) is an entry-level graduate
course in mineral physics that will be taught on-line during Spring
2014. The objective of the course is to familiarize students with
mineral physics topics and techniques so that they can comfortably read
research literature in mineral physics.

The course will meet twice a week (Tuesday & Thursday 11:00 AM- 12:30 PM
(PST) January 21^st -May 8^th ) on-line via Gotomeeting (a free
web-based meeting tool).Class meetings will be spent in a combination of
lectures, guest lectures and student led discussions.

Students who wish to enroll for credit at UNLV as non-degree seeking
graduate students should go to
http://graduatecollege.unlv.edu/prospective/non-degree/become_a_student/.Students
at COMPRES member institutions should contact Dr. Burnley for additional
enrollment options.Auditors are also welcome.

Students interested in participating in the course should contact Dr.
Burnley by December 15, 2013.**
