Dear Members, I am passing onto you a message from the Chair of the Leonard Medal Committee: "The Leonard Medal Committee serves the Meteoritical Society in recommending to Council awardees for the Leonard Medal, the Nier Prize and Society Fellowships. Our recommendations follow an extended discussion of the contributions of candidates in each category. The list of candidates is determined by nominations from members of the Society. In 2016, the list of candidates for Society Fellowships that the LMC had to work with was 90% male. The list of candidates for the Nier Prize was 100% male. The list of candidates for the Leonard Medal was 100% male. The Committee always needs more nominations, but please be proactive in nominating your female colleagues, so that this disparity can be addressed. Thank you for your time.
