ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 1 August 2018, 11:59 PM EDT

We are looking forward to your contribution to session MR008:

Elastic Properties of Earth Materials and Their Application in
Seismology and Geodynamics

Our understanding of the large-scale structure and composition of the
Earth's interior comes, in a large part, from the interpretation of
seismic velocities, based on the elastic properties of candidate
materials from high-pressure/high-temperature experiments and
theoretical calculations. These two approaches complement each other, in
that experiments provide anchor points for theoretical predictions and
theoretical calculations are able to explore ranges of pressures and
temperatures that are difficult to access using experimental methods. In
this session, we invite novel experimental and computational
contributions on the elastic properties of earth materials as well as on
their application in seismic interpretation and geodynamical modeling
spanning from Earth's crust to core.

Invited Speakers:

Damien FREITAS, Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans, Clermont-Ferrand, France

Sanne COTTAAR, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom

Best regards
The Conveners

Johannes Buchen (University of Bayreuth)
Shuai Zhang (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory)
Stephen Stackhouse (University of Leeds)
Hauke Marquardt (University of Oxford)

https://fallmeeting.agu.org/2018/

For the first time, the AGU Fall Meeting will be held in Washington,
D.C., where we will mark the launch AGU’s Centennial. A wide variety of
events are being planned that will take advantage of this special
location that will showcase our science to the U.S. and international
policy community, students, and public); leverage the local scientific
community, including events with the Smithsonian, National Academies,
and others; and, offer field trips to view the local geology and
research institutes. The Fall Meeting will also offer more workshops as
well as new Tutorial sessions to help students and researchers learn
about new approaches and techniques and introduce exciting science in
other disciplines.

Additional information, including everything you need to know about
abstract submission is here: https://fallmeeting.agu.org/2018/. Please
consider submitting an abstract and/or attending to help show “What
Science Stands For” and to join in an exciting and informative start to
AGU’s Centennial.
