Dear Colleagues,

The Mineralogical Society of America is seeking nominations for the 2016 Dana Medal.  The Dana Medal is given in recognition of sustained outstanding scientific contributions to the mineralogical sciences (in the broadest sense) by an individual in the midst of his or her career.

A full description of the award and a list of recipients may be found at:  http://www.minsocam.org/MSA/Awards/Dana.html

Instructions for submitting nominations can be found at:http://www.minsocam.org/MSA/Awards/Dana.html#Submitting%20Nominations.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2014 Dana Medal is  June 1, 2012.  However, earlier submissions are appreciated.

Please take a moment to review the list of Dana Medal recipients (http://www.minsocam.org/MSA/Awards/Dana.html#Recipients) and MSA award recipients (http://www.minsocam.org/MSA/Awards/MSA_Award.html#Recipients).  If you can think of someone who received their terminal degree after Jan 1, 1989, whose scientific contributions should be recognized by this award and who has not already received either the Dana Medal or the MSA award, please consider organizing a nomination effort on their behalf.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
Christine M. Clark
Chair, MSA Dana Medal Nomination Committee
The completed nomination package must be received by the committee chair by June 1, 2014.
