Hi everyone!
We are excited to announce our session at AGU2025 (December 15-19) in New Orleans: “Processes in the crustal column: From magma genesis to ore deposits and eruptions”. The session is in the Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology section.
Abstract deadline: Wednesday, 30 July 23:59 EDT/03:59 UTC.

Abstract:
Igneous and associated metamorphic processes control the production and refinement of the continental and oceanic crust. The differentiation of those magmas often leads to the development of economically critical ore deposits and hazardous events, such as volcanic and seismic activity. Yet, additional chemical and physical constraints are needed to better document how, when and where magma differentiates, interacts with the surrounding crust, and erupts in various tectonic settings. We invite contributions on crustal processes including, but not limited to, (1) the crystallization-differentiation of hydrous and anhydrous magmas, (2) the associated deformation and metamorphism of the pre-existing crust during magmatic activity, and (3) the impact of volatile elements on melt differentiation, formation of ore deposits at the magmatic-hydrothermal transition, and volcanic eruptions. We welcome submissions from a broad selection of methods, such as microanalysis, experimental petrology, (isotope) geochemistry, and numerical/thermodynamic modeling, to communicate recent developments on high-temperature processes in the crust.
We look forward to seeing you in New Orleans! Please share this information with interested colleagues.
All the best,
Manuel, Thomas, Juliet and Mattia
