Call for abstracts - GSA 2026 Cordilleran Section Meeting at Loreto, Baja

Dear community,
We are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract to GSA 2026 Session T27
“The western equatorial Pangea: Geological, geophysical, geochronological,
and paleoecological insights on the youngest supercontinent assembly and
breakup on Earth”, which will take place during the 112th Annual Meeting
at the GSA Cordilleran Section, to be held in *Loreto, Baja California
Sur, Mexico, *from April 21 to 24, 2026.
This session aims to bring together recent studies focused on Mexico,
southwestern North America, and northwestern South America, addressing the
assemblage, evolution, and breakup of the supercontinent Pangea from
tectonic, stratigraphic, paleoecological, geophysical, geochronological,
and paleogeographic perspectives.
We warmly welcome contributions that bring together diverse perspectives to
enrich our understanding of Western Equatorial Pangea. This session is
designed to spark engaging conversations about the geological and
biological forces that shaped Earth’s most recent supercontinent, while
encouraging collaboration and international exchange. We look forward to
sharing ideas and discoveries with you!
The abstract submission system is now open, with a deadline of January
13, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
