GSA 2025 SESSION T172: POWERING DISCOVERY USING 3-D PETROLOGY OF EARTH AND SOLAR SYSTEM MATERIALS

Please join us in San Antonio, TX for the 2025 Geological Society of America Connects Meeting from October 19-22. Consider submitting an abstract to session T172, "Powering Discovery Using 3-D Petrology of Earth and Solar System Materials".

We seek contributions demonstrating the utilization and potential of 3D imaging and textural analysis for making new observations and deriving new insights on Earth and Solar System materials. We are excited to have two excellent invited talks from Sam Crossley (U. Arizona) and Kashauna Mason (Texas A&M).

The deadline for abstract submission is Tuesday, August 5 and the submission portal can be reached here:https://gsameetings.secure-platform.com/connects25/

Additionally, we will be offering a one-day GSA meeting workshop “Overview of X-ray CT Data Acquisition, Visualization, and Quantitative Analysis for Geological Applications” on Friday, October 17, 2023.  We will present an overview of the acquisition and interpretation of XCT data with hands-on training in visualization and quantitative analysis of geological features (e.g., grains, pores) and fabrics using FIJI, Blob3D, and Quant3D. Register for the workshop here: https://store.geosociety.org/products/sc25cn520

Session & Workshop conveners: Rich Ketcham (UT Austin), Romy Hanna
(UT Austin), Scott Eckley (NASA JSC), and Dave Edey (UT Austin)
