The Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences at Heidelberg University is seeking to fill a Full Professorship (W3) in “Mineralogy” (f/m/d) at the Institute of Earth Sciences.
Applicants should conduct research in the field of mineralogy or a closely related field and have a proven track record of internationally recognized scientific achievements. Candidates from a wide range of research areas in mineralogy will be considered, including igneous and metamorphic processes, high- and low-temperature geochemistry, geochronology, planetary sciences/cosmochemistry, and environmental mineralogy. A strong focus on instrumental analysis is required.
The professorship includes responsibilities for teaching core courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Earth Sciences, including field-based courses. The position is expected to link research groups within the Institute of Earth Sciences and to develop collaborations with researchers at other institutions at Heidelberg University. The establishment of an independent, predominantly third-party-funded research group and participation in university self-governance are expected.
