The Department of Geosciences at Smith College invites applications for a
3-year, benefits eligible position at the rank of Lab Instructor coupled
with a half-time curricular and technical support position to begin July 1,
2021. Teaching responsibilities for this position will regularly
include teaching
introductory level Geology and Oceanography laboratory sections that may
include teaching in the field. The technical and curricular support
expectations are to provide support for the Department of Geosciences’
instructional programs including assisting students and faculty in the use
of specialized scientific equipment, maintaining equipment, arranging
logistics of student field trips, maintaining teaching collections and
displays, and assisting in the classroom. A Master’s degree in geosciences
or related field is required. Applicants with experience in the support of
geoscience research, including technical expertise in geoscience equipment
and teaching experience are especially encouraged to apply, as are
candidates from groups underrepresented in Geosciences.
