Hello All,

The Workshop advertised below at the AGH in Krakow by Maciej Manecki might be of interest to some of you and your students.

Dear Madam,

Dear Sir,

The Graduate College of AGH in Kraków, Poland, and Lead Apatite Research Group (LARG) are organizing a meeting for graduate students from all over the world in the form of a workshop titled: LEAD APATITES IN THE ENVIRONMENT AND TECHNOLOGY (LAPET2022). The workshop will take place June 6–9, 2022 at the Department of Mineralogy, Petrography and Geochemistry AGH. The organizers will cover a large part of the participation costs (travel or accommodation costs) for the invited graduate students and their supervisors.

This workshop aims to bring together PhD students (and their advisors) from all over the world whose doctoral theses are related to lead apatites: their formation, synthesis, structure, thermodynamic properties, applications in environmental problems and remediation of contaminated soils or sediments, applications in raw materials and engineering technologies, etc. The AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków is a perfect place for such a meeting because its various departments address these issues for a number of scientific and technical reasons. The opportunity to meet advisors and graduate students from different parts of the world who share research interests will be beneficial for PhD students and the faculty alike. Compared to conferences, workshops have the advantage of bringing together people with similar interests and are intimate, which fosters networking and cooperation, helps to develop practical solutions that will result in doctoral projects implemented in cooperation with foreign partners, and increases the mobility of graduate students and their job opportunities in the future. We know from experience that participating in a topic-focused workshop can be a turning point for young scientists significantly accelerating their progress in the development of scientific careers.

LAPET2022 workshop will cover three areas of interest: 1) scientific issues strictly related to lead apatites; 2) management of study programs, subjects and classes related to such doctoral projects; and 3) implementation of industrial internship programs and exchange of students and alumni between institutions running doctoral projects related to such topics. It will also be a good excuse to visit Kraków, the pearl of Central Europe and the former capital of Poland. An integral part of the workshop will be evening dinners in attractive locations in and around Kraków.

If you are a student working on a project that deals with lead apatites or you are a supervisor overseeing such a project, this e-mail is addressed to you. Take advantage of the high financial support offered by the organizers.

Important information:

There is no workshop fee. Participation in the workshop is free.
The organizers will cover a large part of the participation costs: travel or accommodation in Kraków.
If you are interested in LAPET2022, please fill out the attached application form and send it back via e-mail.
There is a possibility of taking part in the post-conference trip. Please indicate interest in the application form.
The detailed program will be sent to you by e-mail on February 14th, 2022.

Please do not hesitate to contact us!
